Oh come on guys, the Dems and Reps in Congress were not "selling him a gun permit". They were acting all tough and full bore ready to go in and kick some ass.... anyone's ass to make it look like they were doing something. Virtually nobody in office at that point was against the Iraq invasion, get your history right. They were all pandering.
Now conducting the war, that's another story......
