Between now and the road trip, you might want to inquire about putting Stoneguard, Starshield, Invinca-shield, or equivalent on the car if it doesn't already have it already. You have enough leeway to allow a vendor to come up with a custom template if they don't already have something in stock.
OTOH, blue masking tape does goes well with silver.
