The events are staged in fields that are not necessarily groomed. JWA actually practices on an overgrown farmer's field and I have ridden with him......it is hard to explain bouncing off of dirt piles, rocks, and deep ruts at speed, but it is quite violent and you can really hear and feel the suspension bouncing off the limit stops all the time. He also makes frequent trips to the tire store to have dirt and rocks removed from rim/tire bead sealing area when the tires won't hold air any longer.
