It seems that because the hydraulic fluid is shared between the brakes and clutch something seems to contribute to contamination.

The brake hydraulic system is a closed system, what could contaminate it? residue from the inner wall of brake lines? Perhaps some "film" from the master cylinder cap?

I understand moisture...but I live in SoCal....it's not like it's humid...where is this moisture going to come from...the air?
