well not really, more like a distant cousin.
I've been getting lots of seat time in Teslas lately and I think I've found my new love. They are out of this world. Last night I took home the beauty pictured below with the new 1.5 powertrain and I felt like I was in the Jetsons.
The driving experience is surreal. As soon as you get on the accelerator, it goes, 0-60 in under 4 secs.
To slow down I rarely had to brake, just lift my foot off the accelerator. I was afraid to speed in it as the color is so loud. (I'm used to my dark blue understated British cars.) The handling so far has been great. I'll try to update this thread as new experiences come along.
I think for Lotus owners considering a Tesla, it's definitely worthwhile checking out. As I mentioned several months ago, after my first ride in one as a passenger, it's what Lotus should have done to begin with as far as the fit/finish go. The seats are a little wider and the sills are lower for easier entry and exit.
And it's a blast pulling up to the gas station to meet up with my Lotus that needed a refuel, while all I had to do is plug in over night. FTW.
I definitely would not miss trips to the gas station if I had one full time.
The future is really here now.
