You likely have the "load" set too high (read, the TPS). If you lower the TPS engagement, you won't fall off cam when you modulate. It could also be that the RPM engagement was simply too high (the actual switch point, in my case 5,300), but I doubt it based on what I've seen of the base maps (most I've seen are in the 4,500 range)...

If neither of the above apply you may just need to down shift!
