Doesn't the 4th digit indicate if it's an S240? (e.g. SCCWC = S240).

Just a little tip on Lotus VIN's for those who are not aware:

The 5th to last digit of the VIN indicates whether it's an Exige or Elise so if you see an 8, it's an Exige and if you see a 3, it's an Elise. Unfortunately, it won't indicate whether it's a N/A or SC Elise or a 220 or 240 Exige.

Another tip pertaining to all cars:

From 2001 and newer, the 8th to last digit of a VIN indicates the year of the car so if it's a 1 then it's a 2001 model year, 2 it's a 2002 model year etc.

Before 2001, the 8th to last digit still indicated model year but it was a letter that indicated this and if you saw Y, it was consider a 2000 model.
