Same performance in colder climates, that's a limitation of the battery chemistry. Performance drops in colder cilmates, so you'd need a bigger battery if you live in extremely cold climents (meaning you couldn't use the VPH400, you'd need the VPH700).

One trick we've done is to leave the AC fan/blower on it's highest setting for a minute or two to warm up the battery.
