I had the same problem, so be careful with your wiring. The alternator cable should not be too tight. The engine moved enough that it pulled/sheared the wires going into the alternator. I had to solder a wire into the plug and extend and redo the other wires. Take a look at the picture in the instruction manual again. I didn't route mine properly the first time and ended up on the side of the road. Luckily, only a half-mile from my house and with a friend available for a ride.
The shear didn't appear for a few hundred miles. You will know that this wire is an issue if you notice your lights dimming and maybe a flickering MIL due to the slight short that occurred before a full sever of the wire.
Check the routing of your alternator's wiring and make sure it's exaclty as the picture displays. I haven't had the wiring problem since the correction.
