Thanks for the compliment. The mount is a chase cam mount. It suction cups to the window. It was a private track day and video recording was allowed. Lap timing was of course not allowed.
Not much benefit to timing yourself on a new track. However, if I were going to be there several times a year, I'd likely mount my datalogger to review data afterward.
