I agree it raised suspicion, but try not to attribute a statement to somebody who did not make it. It's exactly that sort of "story creep" that turns around and causes bad rumors in the first place.
As an upstanding representative of the brand, Abe, please don't allow yourself the luxury of communicating with inaccuracy.
