Have the Forced Fed street header and sport cat. Being stainless steel, they seem to run as cool or more so then the stock ones. Yup the heat shield that was in the bend no longer fits. Did go ahead and wrap that area. In comparing temps (on the clam shell) to a stock Elise after a mildly aggressive back road drive, was slightly cooler.
In your case, I'd be more concern about taking a closer look / fixing that spot that has melted.
def- glad to hear it. The autocross back ground, helps. Then again you seem to be more of a natural.
