Hey it's not like I haven't heard of someone who might have done the same thing in West Texas where you could see for miles and miles and the road was perfectly straight...
But that said, if I wanted to take my son for a ride at 140 MPH, I'd do it on a track. Of course I'd have a lot of trouble with that as the fastest I've been able to get my car on track is 129 or so (not to mention that I don't have a son). NA FTW.
I think you'll just have to accept that there are going to be those who will 'look down' on you for giving your son a ride at 140 MPH on a public road. That said, I REALLY wish my dad had given me a ride in an Exige at 140 MPH when he was alive.
