I guess the VF tune (unrevised) likes it better when you're really working the engine. I seems less happy if you're driving around and staying under 4K rpm most of the time. It will tell you (ie: cel light) to step on it and hit that second cam more often.

That is true, the vf2 tune is better suited to track driving, where the rpms are kept well above 4500. But, the tune is very docile slogging around town. The problem comes when you are cruising at ~3000+ rpms and want to accelerate immediately...the motor hesitates and bogs down until the rpms rise to ~4200-4500...it almost feels like a turbo spooling up, but not very linear/smooth
I'll be going to the NJMP track later this summer.
What HPDE group are you in? Could you keep up with higher hp cars on the straights?
