Did you have the cams in the engine? These are the same cams which we found make less power than stock:

Compare to the Lotus supercharger - it's got more torque at 2000 rpm than the factory charger makes anywhere...
It is a centrifugal supercharger - basically a belt driven compressor out of a turbocharger. The output is a square of the speed. You're probably thinking about a positive displacement supercharger, which has a more linear output.
