We all know how tricky a Lotus is to drive.

The front clam can get wrecked just driving out of the Hertz lot.

Here's my idea I posted yesterday elsewhere:

A 3-minute course on what to avoid doing in your rental Lotus on a video shown at Hertz.

"Welcome to Hertz. You are renting a car called a Lotus. It a very special sports car.

Please be aware that you must enter and exit all driveways at an angle, extremely SLOWLY to avoid damaging the underside of the front of the car.

You should be aware that many other drivers cannot see you on the road because the Lotus is so small. Avoid sudden stops with SUV's right behind you.

If you get a flat tire, there should be a "Fix-A-Flat" can in the trunk, which is in the back of the car. Refill the tire with this and continue to a Hertz location.

If you must get the car towed, it must be towed on a FLATBED tow truck only. Remind the driver of the flatbed that the towhook, which installs on the front of the Lotus, should be located in the trunk as well. He will need the towhook to put the Lotus on the flatbed.

This Lotus is very fast and you should be careful when first driving it, as you are probably not used to such extreme acceleration.

When parking the Lotus at a hotel overnight, please put the Hertz-supplied car cover on the car which you should find in the trunk.

Be careful getting in and out of the Lotus so you do not grab onto any non-structural parts of the car, AND so you do not scratch the wide sills.

Be sure the interior light is set in the down position only, or the light will stay on with the doors closed and your battery will be dead in the morning.

If the Lotus is not your cup of tea, bring it back to Hertz and we will rent you a nice big Ford.

Please be careful.

Thank you."
