...S2 refers to the series two cars; basically the only elise/exige we've ever seen in north america...the earlier S1 cars used a completely different (and unrelated to honda) k-series powertrain manufactured by rover in the UK, and in fact the very first S2 cars produced for the european market carried over that same rover-series motor...

...when the car was federalised, an entirely different rear subframe and drivetrain assembly were developed to suit the 2ZZ-GE powertrain...this new toyota motor is a dramatic improvement over the older european rover-powered cars, and thus, even though there was substantial demand for honda k20 kits in the old lower-powered S1 markets, the 2ZZ-GE performs well enough that there's negligible demand to do the same engine swap on federal S2 cars - it's a disproportionately expensive proposition by comparison to building and boosting the 2ZZ-GE we already have for similar performance...

...ergo, no honda swap kits for our north american elise/exige, excepting a few incompetent scams...
