The hole the broken bolt threads into opens into the transmission (I could hear it suck in air as I removed it). I've marked up Stan's photo to show where the bolt is on the Elise. Note, however, that the transmission in Stan's photo does NOT have the actual bolt- I've marked where it is on the Elise.
