That's the published recommendation, though I've cut that in half on my car, doing oil changes every 3.5-4k miles. I just don't think we could fault someone for following Lotus' recommended service intervals; if Lotus thinks 7k is OK for oil changes then it probably is (but from my perspective, oil is so cheap and easy to change, why push it...).
