I was talking to someone who knows someone...
who is working on a N/A 2zz. I was asked to keep it a secret at this time. There is an Elise w/ this engine running around now... so I'm told. They want to thoroughly test it before offering it to the public. They want it to be reliable as a track car. He said the solution will be available to the public as the initial batch of Elises comes off their 3-yr warranty. It's being tuned and being tested for reliability until then.
Here is the story I was told.
It was commissioned by a reputable shop. Engine was/is built by a professional engine builder (he builds engines for professional race cars we see on TV). It will be the 2zz engine w/ a lot of internal works. Will be street legal. Will use the factory ECU (no piggy back). ~250hp to the crank. Will try to keep it under $10k. This is what I was told and the person who told me the story really doesn't have any reason to make it up.
