It's a fair enough point in general, but in this case he did say his father in law is a manager there who accompanied him when he dropped off the car, and they did brief the employees as to how to lift the car. That last bit turned out to be the problem as they didn't heed those instructions, which could ultimately legitimise your argument, but I honestly wouldn't blame the owner given the circumstances.
