I'll try to get a pic this weekend...should have taken some along the way, but must have been too anxious

Here were my steps:
1) I put the platform on the car; used a grease pencil to mark the 3x3 holes. Remove platform, drilled holes in clam.
2) Cut 2ea 4"x8" pieces of aluminum, and set the platform on them as a hole guide, drilled holes. Then mounted to the underside of the clam with epoxy. Make sure the aluminum is flexible enough to contour to the inside of the clam.
3) Applied 1/4" automotive foam adhesive weather seal to the perimeter of the upright bases. This filled in any small gaps between the clam & uprights, and keeps the water out.
4) You need screws that are about 15mm longer than the supplied, so I bought some M6x1x40mm stainless, along with 30mm washers.
The whole thing didn't take 2 hours.
