Yeah, before all y'all jump down my sh*t, I did search and nothing really came up. Played with the column dimmer and nada.

On my shiny new '08 SC, my shift indicator lights don't appear to work.

When I turn the key to accessory position, I can see all the telltales light up and the shift indicator oval lights, however, they don't come on while driving. I thought maybe they only come at certain RPMs to I took her our and revved high. Not to mention that we did over 300 miles of spirited driving this weekend which included a lot of high revving.

Nada.

I've heard of some gauge clusters being wonky, but wouldn't that imply ALL the lights?

Hoping I'm a tard and it's an easy fix. Anyone have any ideas?

I just noticed a small crack that's developed on my rear clam. It's in a very un-noticeable area on the bottom side of the clam where it meets the black metal mesh piece that the license plate attaches to. I only noticed it because I had to loosen the black metal mesh piece to gain access to something.

I just don't want it to spread any further. Would it be a good idea just to patch it from the rear to keep that from happening?

Been batttling with my SC for a while now. (but had been running perfectly for 2 years) I had a idle surging problem and a random lean out issue which ended up being a hole in my intercooler and a crack in the manifold between the TB and SC.

Things done in trouble shooting the intial problem in the last 2 months:

New O2 sensors
Radium surge tank completely rebuilt, new pump, new wiring, new hoses, inline filter added and 3 fuel regulators
3 MAFs
Removed catch cans just to simplify
Replaced intercooler clamps
ECU sent to Jermaine 3 times for him to check how far out my trims went. (he has the same setup as mine so he has driven his car on my ECU and runs fine)
New engine, it randomly leaned out at the worst possible moment and burnt a hole between the exhaust valves so engine replaced
Checked Idle Control in the TB
Added AFR and Boost gauge
OT2 data logger, TP follows accelerator input. When idle surged, TP would change from 14 to 16 following the idle trying to stablize

These have been repaired/replaced and the system reassembled. Still will not run. Old problems are gone, but now have a new problem.

Seems I have it narrowed down to when at low vacuum, slow roll on throttle inputs the engine runs fine. But any kind of quick inputs the engine bogs, and pops and cracks and when it clears it puffs out a quick puff of black smoke.

Engine does not just fire and run smooth, takes a minute for vacuum to pull down to -20, then it has a solid idle?!?

Here is a video of me running the engine.
Things done to trouble shoot in the last week, TB to SC manifold came in monday:

Compression test, Gauge 1: 211, 210, 200 ,208 Gauge 2: 232, 236, 231, 235
AFR at idle 14.6, smooth rev 12.6, when engine bogs 17.1 Always returns back to 12~ then stablizes (yes I know this is not driving down the road under load)
Boost at idle -20, when engine bogs 0~ -4.5
Fuel pressure 52 psi, holds steady when engine revs
Seals on SC replaced
MAF changed
Pulled intercooler pipes and had leak tested. Marked area for clamp to make sure good seal on tubes and couplers
Removed surge tank to simplify
New plugs, NGK BKR6EIX-11
Fuel injectors O-rings replaced, top and bottom
Intake manifold gasket replaced
All bolts retorqued after engine was brought up to temp and cooled down
Replaced inline fuel filter
Replaced vacuum lines on bypass solenoid and boost gauge
Bypass valve working properly
Unhooked bypass valve solenoid vaccum line so valve was closed, engine bogs at any throttle input
Held vaccum on bypass valve solenoid to hold valve open and engine revs just fine, just no boost
Leak test, leak test and leak test

At this point I am completely defeated. I know I have done more trouble shooting but thats all I can think of off the top of my head

I will be making graphs of RPM vs TPS with AFR and MAF

Any help would be great

I'd like to put a sports exhaust on my 08 Elise SC. One with dual left-right side exits. Bascally just like the earlier S2 models used to have, as i prefer this setup over the "through diffusor" version.

Is there any brand like 2bular, Larini, BOE... that offers such a solution for a 08 SC?

I`ve been reading this forum for several years. Now it seems that I really need some help. I have 2005 federal elise. Completely stock in terms of suspension. Last year I won autoslalom champonship in my country. But the first race this year was not easy at all. Due to small track size(100*60 meters) and a lot of U and S slow turns with small radius I really felt the necessity for power steering. Another thing - I need more steering angle. Actually Elise has awful steering radius. The worse in the class. So - what you guys can advice? Does anyone has experience of rack modification and power steering install?

VENTED REAR CLAM ON 08 ELISE SC

Hi guys,

i will soon get a full paintjob on my 08 Elise SC done. Besides changing the color to Phantom black, i got inspired by the taillight section of the Venom GT and now plan to add a similar cutout with mesh insert on my Elise.

Hi guys,

i will soon get a full paintjob on my 08 Elise SC done. Besides changing the color to Phantom black, i got inspired by the taillight section of the Venom GT and now plan to add a similar cutout with mesh insert on my Elise.

I'v already seen a few Lotus cars on this board that had similar mods done to their rear clam, such as this Exige here:

I think this would look extremely nice with a Lotus badge added right in the center, kinda like the Ferrari horse on this one:

Now i know the purists around here will probably yell blasphemy and that i should keep my rear clam stock. However i really like what Hennessey did on the GT and i don't plan to sell my Elise anytime soon, so resale value is not a factor i care about.

What concerns me is if such a mesh grill insert on the rear clam could actually cause some problems. For example if water could leak into the trunk area (or somewhere else) and what i should consider or change to prevent this.

I'd like to hear all the pros and cons before deciding if i'll really do this mod. But if i go for it, then the upcoming full paintjob is sure the right time.

On a sidenote, i am also about to change all other factory grills to metal mesh, so the rear clam mesh insert would blend in with those nicely.
