I know these cars are very different, and this forum may be a little biased towards the Lotus, but it looks like both cars ('05 CGT with 10-15k miles or brand new Evora) would be priced around the same amount.

Which would you choose and why?

(Car wouldn't be used in the winter, I have an old 4wd SUV beater for that purpose).

i found out last night that the smart engine left the factory with dino oil fill but smart usa had it changed to full synthetic at the port largely for marketing reasons -- i.e., they did not want to deal with an initial 500 mile service. the first scheduled oil change is 10,000 miles.

i have 450 miles on the car now and plan to change the oil and filter today. should i add dino oil for another 500 miles or so, or should i fill up with full synthetic and don't worry/be happy?

But I do know a few things:

Lotus is easier to drive and a blast on the track!:D
The Elise was LOUD, gave the real sound of a race car. Well, it's a REAL race car! The Cayman S is TOO quiet.:huh:
I knew the performance of the Lotus Elise on the track. One session (day) in the Cayman S shows that there is work to be done.:popcorn:
I miss the Lotus! A lot!:o
Streets of Willow: Cayman S has a much low gearing compared to the Elise. For example, I'm mostly in second and third gear in the Cayman S, third and fourth gears in the Elise!

I've been lurking around Lotustalk for a while now, and decided to join :D

Now to the topic:

I'm looking to make my first major car purchase soon. I've been researching a lot of different cars over the past few months, mainly Lotus'.

What I'm looking in a car: I want fast acceleration, and tight corners. I LOVE the feeling of being sucked into your seat zoomin' by other drivers. Taking corners fast gives me such a rush, its unexplainable. Just driving around the block should be an adventure, and should be really fun, not a chore, or prison sentence. I want a car that is slim, slender, and good looking(Just like women :D)

Things I do on a daily basis: Drive to work, work, drive home. I go on drives about 4-5 times a week up in the mountain roads. Driving is pretty relaxing for me, and I enjoy it. I love autocrossing too, and I want to autocross my car.

My price range is roughly 30,000-35,000. I can go up to 40,000 if needed. New or used doesn't matter either.

I had a few cars in mind: The Elise, Exige, Lancer Evo, BMW 135i.

If you have any recommendations or suggestions, please don't hesitate to post.
