I am looking at getting this exige below tomorrow:
Vehicle Details (http://www.expomc.com/invsys/details2.php?id=9203)

I'm having a local lotus dealership inspect it, as well as do an ECU dump to explain the first few hundred miles. What should I be worried about as far as the ECU dump is concerned?

I seem to remember reading discussions about the break-in period for lotus cars. Is the warranty able to be voided in any way as a result of high revs, quick starts, etc. ?

Hopefully the lotus dealership will do a thorough inspection; however, is there anything you guys think I should ask them to look out for specifically?

I can't wait to join this community, I just hope everything turns out good with this exige.

Thanks guys!

Hello, I have been drooling over the Lotus Elise since it came out. I just sold my Porsche and am looking for something new. I live in Knoxville, TN and have never had a chance to sit in one to see how I would fit 6'2" 250. I have only read posts about it and seen Jeremy Clarkson do it on Top Gear. So basically I need someone to show theirs off! Like I said I'm in Knoxville, TN so anyone in East Tennesse that wouldn't mind me stress testing their seat please let me know!

San Diego area owners look!

Ok, so far I think I am going to go through with the lotus.

I was wondering if there is anyone in the San Diego area who would not mind teaching me about the car. A Local I can go to for help if something comes up! Also maybe someone who does most of their maintenance themselves so that I may be able to learn from them. I am currently in a car club that meets up every Tuesday and Thursday for the most part but none of them drive a lotus, there is a Viper, GTR, 350z's, G35's, 911's, and some others.

If there is anyone in the San Diego area who can "Teach me the ways" that would be awesome. I am pretty mechanical but just want to make sure I am doing it right since I have never worked on a Lotus.

Just send me an email!

My local dealer just got in a 2007 Lotus Elise. Less than 1,000miles. It has a small crack in the lower front clam from a curb. Its white and has some special coating on the paint I believe.
Is $36,800 a good price? I have a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S I will be trading in for it.
Please get back if I should deal to get the price down or if its a steal?
Thank You,
Austin

A couple of questions

My couple of questions turned into a bunch... sorry.

As several of you know I've been eying a lotus for a while now. So I have a few questions really quick for you guys.

What do you think the maintenance costs run an Exige (06+) per 5,000 miles? What about a modified one with turbo like this one:
http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f94/2006-ff275-stage-3-exige-42-000-a-78789/

Expomotors tells me that 44.5k is the best they can do on the lotus below:
Cars for Sale: 2007 Lotus Exige S in Houston, TX 77060: Coupe Details - 268571355 - AutoTrader.com (http://tinyurl.com/ykd8yyx) (incredibly long auto-trader link)
... is that actually the case?

How many miles can I put on a lotus, can I drive it into 100,000 miles if properly maintained?

How aggressively can I drive an exige? Can I drive it to my hearts content as much as I want?

USAA is telling me 140 a month in insurance, what kind of coverage do you recommend... and how much does full coverage normally run?

How amazing is it being a lotus owner?

Thanks!

Just wanted to say hi. In the market for a elise (used) in the the very near future (possibly taking a look at one and buying one tomorrow) and I am in the socal (san diego) area. Anyone near or close by to mentor me in helping me in choosing/inspecting one? I read the buyers thread on what to look for, but I am always down to learn from a guru.

I used to drive a subie Impreza 2.5rs gc8 body style (hence the screen name Impreza619).... Good car but i think i reached the pinnacle/endpoint on suspension and brake modifications, and decided to sell. Im really oldschool on rs25.com, nasioc, i-club, awdjunkies, scoobymods just to name a few. I am a suspension/brake/wheel junkie I know handling is what this car is known for....cough....aside from its good looks.

I know the subie community forums became one of the best sources for info on anything subaru, and this site looks like it shares that same bond of helping other lotus owners.

hope to see yall in the near future...

Hello All,

After owning a Westfield SEi for nearly 4 years I decided it was time to move on... The only car I considered a worthy replacement was the Lotus Elise.

For some reason I dislike the Rover K-series engine most of the EU Elises have. So I saved up to buy a low mileage 111R with a proper Toyota engine.

I´ve used the car for a few days now and there are some things that caught my attention. Maybe you can help me with tips - answers to the following;

- The level in the header tank is low. When do you top it up? When the engine is hot or cold?
- What coolant has to be used? I plan on replacing it next week
- What engine oil would you recommend? I found Castrol Magnatec 5W40 full Synthetic is that ok?
- today I washed the car and noticed the seals around the windows in the doors do not really close tightly (esp. to the hardtop) Can this be adjusted?
- The self-canceling of the indicator stalk only works on right turns...
- The A/C needs a regas, how do you remove the side grill to reach the filling points?
- What is a normal temperature of the coolant to reach while in a trafficjam? Mine came to 99 degrees..

Thanks for all your imput!!!

For some reason I dislike the Rover K-series engine most of the EU Elises have. So I saved up to buy a low mileage 111R with a proper Toyota engine.

I´ve used the car for a few days now and there are some things that caught my attention. Maybe you can help me with tips - answers to the following;

Ok I am new to the lotus seen. I just bought a 2005 Elise red with out a hard top. Drove it to work yesterday and could not wait to take my boss to lunch in it. So I have a couple of questions. Where can I get a hardtop. Is there anyone in Tucson az on the forum that would like to go for a drive?
Also I am going to London England for the summer for business. While I am there I want to buy a 1999 rhd lotus elise with the k-series motor I think they are called the 111s (I might be wrong). Has anyone on the forum ever imported one of these back from the uk and if so how did they go about doing this. Some help on this would be great. Thanks for your help!!

Hello! I am new to this forum and am looking for Elise owners in West Michigan to get together for road trips, gatherings and share info with all around the Elise and Exige. I used to have a Lotus Elise Mk1 8 years ago in Europe that I had to sell back then because I could not import it to the U.S. as a street legal car. Now I am finally back in the game with a Graphite grey 2005, red interior and am loving it. Hope to meet more enthusiasts:) over here.
