recently had my front brakes, rear brakes, and rtv brace installed and alignment was done. today it was raining in ny, i usually could drive more than 40 mph, but for some reason it was scary if i was going pass 40 the the rear kept pulling to the right and i would have to slow down. for example i was in the right lane the steering wheel kept going into the middle lane and fishtailing to the right side, car is pulling to the right side, very scary. any tips on what is the problem i sure its the alignment b/c this had never happened before.

Aside from a bad steering rack what else can affect the steering being potentially numb? I've got a new rack and alignment (still dead on), but either I'm going crazy (possible) or I've developed a slight bit of numbness in my steering.

What I mean is I swear it's taking more input to make certain turns and garner a response from the car than typical.

Tire pressure was just filled up to fwiw. The S111 rack is about 2 months old...

So I have an '05 non-sport package and I'm running a set of SSR Competitions with R888s (195/50/16 front 225/45/17 rear). I had Discount Tire mount the tires when they broke one of the center caps. Turns out these wheels have been discontinued (though I still see them on Tirerack.com...must be left over stock). So Discount Tire can't get a replacement for the broken center cap.

First off, does anyone happen to have an extra SSR Competition center cap they want to sell? The shop will probably pay you handsomely for it as they're now offering to buy me a whole new set of wheels.

Problem is, what wheels are available that will fit these tires?? And they must be light weight and look decent too.

Just installed RTV brace, rear sport shocks, and took out front shims.

I could not get the front sport shock to line up for the bolt to pass thru. The brass colored spacer was making it a real bugger.
Any suggestions out in LotusLand?

A little background: Just bought an '06 Exige with LSS. The main purpose of the Lotus is to track the car and hoping to get 6-7 track days next year and occasional weekend spirited driving. I'm located in SoCal so we don't see rain that much. The tires that came with the car needs replacing in order for me to track. The nearest track from my house is about 60 miles and planning on driving the car back and forth. I pretty much decided on getting the R888s.

Would these sizes work?: 205/45/16 & 235/45/17 or. 195/50/16 & 235/45/17. Also, is it possible to just replace the rears first if the fronts still have about one track day left? I have A048s all around right now.

Thanks!

My Tesla is very similar to the Elise. Because of the extra battery weight the front has too much understeer. My front sway bar is set in the middle of 3 holes. Which way do I move the linkage, towards the pivot or away? Would a stronger sway bar help? Any thoughts on the rear sway bar?

Thanks, Roger

I also looked at:

Just snapped the tool that comes with the car to remove the wheel bolts. Think it's called a "wheel bolt adapter." It's the standard one, not a specific lock pattern. 10 splines. Is this some kind of standard thing that I can buy at Sears, or is a Lotus only piece? Please let me now as I have a track day at Infineon on Friday.

Elise brake ticking noise

I have a 2006 Elise and I have been experiencing a ticking noise that appears to come from the center console that ticks in time with the wheel rotation (once per revolution) and only when applying the brakes. The brake rotors have no rust and I did not detect any cracks. Somewhere I read that there could be a fault with the abs sensor. I don't know how that would manifest itself in an audible ticking noise, but I have not yet removed the fuse to see if it goes away.

Hi all,

Really suffering now with new wheels/tyres since i wrecked my standard 5 spoke elise wheels.

So the question is any pros cons for 17/18 setup?

i am thinking of:
Kumho V70
205 40 17 front
245 35 18 rear

And what alloys to go for? The only "more or less" alternative i've found are the Team Dynamics.

Really wanted the Dymag, but the Magnesium one's(they don't do in 18's), and the carbon one's, despite the price, don't really do 17'(delivery time 3+ month)...

Help appreciated.

Cheers,
Ilya
