Anyone here running with the POC Club in SoCal?
Considering running some track events with the POC and wondering if anyone is running their Lotus with the Club. If so is it a good outfit to run with? Also are you attending any upcoming events?

I've ran with POC a few times. Great organization. Only problem is that often a LOT of cars show up and you wont get as much track time as you'd like... Also, you'd need to get certified by a POC instructor before you are able to drive on the track by yourself. THis certification will require riding with an instructor over a period of several days.

I sat in on their morning driver's meetings... I have to say that I thought I was sitting in on a Scientology meeting; lots of talk about recruiting more drivers, getting out the message, and poaching members from the PCA (who they apparently don't get along with). Seem like decent folk though... EDIT: They were using the same race steward that the LCS uses... which is to say a good one. Sessions started and ended promptly, and the track crew that they employed was very good (especially with flagging).

my 2 cents
Yes there appears to be some bad blood between POC and PCA. I think it is generated by the POC thinking they are the true "hard core" Pcar people as their sole focus is tracking their cars and PCA is about much more than just tracking the car. But the feud is overblown I reckon. At the fontana track day I attended with PCA there were at least 4~6 POC guys in race prepped cars that seemed to be accepted just fine by the pca crowd.

Im just looking for good clubs to run with, mostly just a safe a friendly atmosphere. I'm not sure I want to join for 100 dollars and not dig the outfit.
Thanks for the feedback!

I have run a '05 Elise in the POC short track events off and on for three years, and have had only positive experiences. The members and officers I have met were open and welcoming. They emphasize fun and safety. I encourage folks to give them a try.
