Kumho v710 tire question
could one use some kumho v710 slicks on the car and get better track performance in the size 215 45 16 on both front and rear or might this mess up the abs readings???
they should be better than AO48's in the stock sizes 16 front and 17 rear

Some width info...
First of all, how come I never see you at Miller's?
I think we will all agree DO NOT use the same tread width front and rear because there will be significant oversteer due to the high front/rear traction ratio. LSS tires come in 195 front 225 rear which is a .87% front/rear treadwith ratio. At the limit, the factory setup still understeers too much, which is often corrected by going to a higher front/rear treadwith ratio. My setup is 225/245 which is .92 ratio, which has been perfectly neutral at the limit (with LSS suspension). Others often use 205/225 which is .91. I recommend this ball park of .91 - .92 for neutral steering, which should be great with factory suspension or aftermarket suspension (after you tune all of the other factors correctly.) ABS readings....disconnect that worthless pile of dog sh** called an ABS system. ABS on our cars at the track just plain sucks and has made some very very close calls for some of us. Search for "ice mode". If you want to have a good scare at Miller's, floor it all the way through the attitudes, then get hard on the brakes before the Tooele turn, you'll find out how much fun ice mode is. There is an ABS sensor connector at every wheel (in the front it is clipped to your camber shims at the top of the front hub body.) Disconnect this connector. You only need to disconnec one corner, it will disable ABS altogether. You will have a yellow ABS light on the dash. This is a good thing! Your car will even pass state inspection with the yellow "ABS" light on, you just can't have a red "BRAKE" light on. If you are the guy that the snap on tool man told me about with the ridiculous turbo, I would definetely recommend the 225 front 245 rear option. I run 225/50R15 and 245/40R17 (even though I am natural aspirated) combo to keep it light enough, but still have max width and available rubber sizes (Kumho V710, Hoosier R6, BFG R1.) cheers Eli |

A better check valve will help the braking problem for sure
![]() Regarding tires, the 15/17 stagger is simply great. I also run the 245/225 setup. It's not a forgiving combo, as you'll be dialing out the understeer to essentially zero with the proper alignment. Beware! I've been playing with Hankooks with C51 tread compound lately. Works extremely well and quite affordable...I agree that the tire combo you mentioned doesn't seem like it would be the greatest for the car... Guess you could always detune the monster with a "small tire" map ![]() Best, Phil

wow! i didn't mean to ruffle any feathers....i have gone to millers for the snowcross this spring and plan on going again maybe very soon and to the snowcross again. as for the tires, i just happened to get a set of wheels with 4X100 pattern in 16" with new v710's on them ($100) and wondered if they might be better than stock tires or r888's for an occasional track session. i am the guy with the turbo setup that the snap-on guy told u about but the setup is pretty clean but nothing outrageous (281whp @ 10.5 psi). when on the track i usually use 5-7 psi and 13 or 14 for the dragstrip but i cant launch the thing very well. my car seems a little loose off the corners and thought some better shoes might help but have not purchased any dedicated wheels yet.
thanks for the opinions
