1. if you plan to NOT lift, put your stock exhaust back on. dont try anything else, you WILL NOT PASS SOUND.

2. even if you need to lift, LS is a great track you should try it out.

3. usurbrain, if you go, i'll go watch since i can't fit your puny seat

4. jack f. you have to make it up here. it's a great track.

iPhone + Lotus = Laguna Seca

Anyway, for those of you with iPhones, you can download a .99 app called "Decibel" and you can turn your iPhone into a decibel reader. It might help...for .99 you'll get an idea before trekking up to LS....r

great! another handy iphone app.

Hopefully it works better than my Dynoliciuos...although I was happy with 600hp in my lotus!

looks like my car may be 72 decibils!

I'll bring my sound meter to Buttonwillow too... maybe we can get a volunteer or two to take dB readings at various points around the track.

Hey John,

Long time, no talk. You'll be out there for some of the SV days, won't you?

I'm planning on being there Thursday, Friday and Saturday...... I knew that the stock muffler off of the 2-11 would come in handy one of these days.

All the best,

Aaron of Speed Ventures states you MUST have a front and rear tow hook at Laguana Seca.
Lotus Challenge Series is taking the same position at Laguna.
Many trackday and racing org have this requirement at Laguna.

Many new gravel traps at Laguna to make it safer for the bikes. Tow driver will not drive into the gravel trap to pull you out, rather give you a line to attach. So you have to be prepared to hook yourself in a timely fashion for a rear tow.

Also there can be a lot of down time if folks are going off and getting stuck in the gravel. If a participant causes delay into another group's time, then the offender's run group will lose time to pay back victim's group. That will make you very unpopular within your run group.

I agree that 2 offs and you're done was harsh at Big Willow, given the wind gusts and there was flexibility on that rule there. I think for most tracks, 2 offs and you're done is a bit too harsh, especially for a 2 day event. But at Laguna, we need to be very strick about folks not going off track - as getting stuck in gravel traps is a significant concern at Laguna.

I'll throw in a couple of comments about running Laguna. There are indeed a fair number of walls, both of the hard and soft type (tire). They re-did it several years ago to better suit the bikers that race there. So the run off area is pretty much sand traps. If you do go off, don't fight it and do point it, nose first off the track. Was there for a Nov. and Dec. HPDE a few years ago. At both events an Elise was totaled. They went off, tried to force a save and ended up out of control and into the opposite wall. Going off side ways, cars have dug in, to the point of rolling. So if your going off, let it go. Better to get the tow out, rather then collecting a opposite wall or worst a fellow drivers. Sears Point is even more unforgiving...

Oh and watch out for the birds around the T5-T6 bridges. Was there a few weeks ago and a driver ended up in the sand traps (and a early end to our session). When a bird, unexpectedly swooped down on him. Going out the next session, did notice there were flocks of them hanging out around the bridges. Since he was parked next to me at the paddock, we were able to give him a good ribbing about it.

Larini 8" definitely passes, at least I have no problem with the two events I have run there since installing it.

Eddie,

I was confused, since Andy is doing my Thursday event but not the SCCA, I erroneously thought you were planning on seeing Andy on Thursday.
