In case you all missed it:
Lotus Cars USA to Sponsor Lotus Challenge Series

Lotus Cars USA has announced that it has signed on as the Title Sponsor of the grassroots Lotus Challenge Series. Started in 2008 by Jim Navarro and other Lotus enthusiasts the series held eight races in its first year with six in California and two at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada - the home of the Lotus Driving School.

For 2009 the series has expanded to 10 events in the western U.S. (including races at Streets of Willow, Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca and Infineon) with four additional events in Texas.

"The Lotus Challenge Series is a very well run organization that's expanding through providing Lotus owners a fun, safe and positive environment in which to enjoy their Lotus vehicles and improve their driving skills," said Lotus Cars USA, Inc. Director of Operations Arnie Johnson. "What Jim Navarro, Tom Hughes, Jack Fried, Robb Bonanno and all of the participants in the Lotus Challenge Series are doing is fostering tremendous enthusiasm and goodwill for our treasured Lotus marque. We're extremely proud to support the expansion of the Lotus Challenge Series as the title sponsor and show some of our most devoted Lotus owners how much we appreciate them."

The Lotus Challenge Series is comprised of several classes for both street cars like the Elise and Exige, as well as track-only vehicles like the Exige Cup Car 255 and the 2-Eleven.

Andy is staying here:

Monterey Bay - Seaside Hotel, California - CA - Embassy Suites Hotel

I may reserve here as well, if I don't hear about any specials in the next few days.

Yeah I saw that, but when I talked to Jim the other day he said that he was working on a different place and getting a better rate. Got flight and rental car booked already, wanted to get room squared away before I leave for a different vacation...

congratulations, everyone.
I have been avoiding following these LCS threads because of the intense jealousy and envy and longing that I feel just by seeing the letters "LCS". I apparently picked the wrong year to have a baby.... Anyway, this is a great development and hopefully, this will be around for a while, so I can dust off the elise and join you all one day.

For now, I will continue to avoid this and all other threads labelled LCS...

IMPORTANT UPDATE/WARNING RE: LAGUNA NOISE LIMITS

Just spoke with Ryan of R3 Motorsports who informed me that the 2bular 8"X24" GT3 Muffler will definitely NOT pass the 92db sound limit at Laguna Seca.

R3 was recently at Laguna for the SCCA races (see Kevin Marshal's report) running the large GT3 muffler on an Exige S ... sound limit was 102db for the SCCA event ... and they could not pass sound. With a jury-rigged muffler extension, they got it down to 101db.

So, just a heads-up -- don't go to Laguna thinking that your jumbo sized (8"x24") 2bular or Larinni muffler will meet the 92db sound limit which will be in effect for our LCS event. Forewarned is forearmed.

Check directly with them, but I believe the answer is NO. Their Supertraps will work on their proprietary mufflers ... call Allen to be sure ... 619-517-1938. LPL, DRS or R3 Motorsports (all are sponsors of the LCS) may have other solutions also.

LCS host hotel in Monterrey

Monterrey embassy suites will be the host hotel for this event. If you call to book it will be under lotus challenge series . I asked for Andy and Jacks rate to be modified if this was a better rate.
Monterey Bay - Seaside Hotel, California - CA - Embassy Suites Hotel
They have secure parking for trailers as well.
There are many hotels in the area with rates ranging from $90-$500 per night. Click here for the hotels.travel now . com -- global discount hotel reservations
Our event schedule will be posted today on the lcs website in the calendar section.

Jim,

I just called Embassy Suites and they couldn't find Lotus Challenge Series in their system. I made my reservation there June 3 and would like the LCS rate if it's lower. Thanks.
