I was there and saw it. I raced there many times and that turn wasn't even safe for 2 Sprites side by side at speed. 'Nuff said!

Doc

I look forward to meeting him. I've had this pain on either side of my tail bone
and thought he might give me a diagnosis, since he's a doc. If he really
does exist? : Maybe he was abducted and probed like Jack and Robb, which
explains why he hasn't showed up till the last event.

I've seen that video too.

Whether it was a bad decision, a stupid decision, or whatever... just keep in mind that just about every F1, CART, IMSA, ALMS, CanAm, etc. champion, no matter how good... has been involved in an accident that was caused by being too aggressive. Not excusing it by any means... but racing is competitive, dangerous, and unforgiving.

I had to do a double-triple take on the attendees. Peter Mokran's bailing!? That's insane! Tell me this isn't true, Peter. I'm planning on earning that trophy man. Don't let me down.

That was 23 years go. lol
I tried to jump a canal on my indian 125 and hit the embankment on the other side. I crashed and nocked myself out into the murky canal water. Bad mistake but I learned a lot about approach speed.
He is a great instructor that has real Imsa race experience plus he knows lotus cars like very few do.

Jim-

What is the schedule like on Sunday night after the track goes cold? Is there time for a cocktail hour at switchcars?

Doug,

As far as I know, there is no special "sanctioned" activity scheduled after the track goes cold (set for 5 PM). No formal group dinner plans have been made for the LCS -- I believe everyone is on their own.

That sounds really good.

Well, let's do the official unsanctioned Switchcars cocktail hour......Sunday evening as soon as the track goes cold (we'll start at 430 for those in the first run group). Jim....if you want to sanction free alcohol, feel free to make it a sanctioned event

Doug,
We talked about a cocktail hour last month and it would be great if you still wanted to host it.
I am making dinner arrangements tomorrow at the winery for people who want to attend. Nothing formal.

Hmm... I was under the impression that I have 73 and Peter has 70 for a 3 pt lead. How do you arrive at your numbers, Jim?

Here's how I get mine - posted standings for SOW: Glen 57, Peter 49.
Points from BTW Glen 9, Peter 12
Points from Infineon: Glen 7, Peter 9, Ryan 12 (or do I have Peter and Ryan switched?)

That one little point spread makes a huge difference since by my calcs if I place 2nd at SMMP, I tie Peter for 1st for the season. Without that point I have to place 1st at SMMP to earn 1st for the season. But then there's the rule of throwing out the lowest scoring event. Not sure if we are still doing that, but even if we do, I'd still have a 3 pt lead at 66 to 63. I love it when things go down to the wire! Wouldn't you agree, Peter?

Still hoping for posted standings to be updated on LCS along with race standings and laptimes. Any chance of that happening soon?

And "That was 23 years go. lol" ... means that given enough time an accident becomes laughable, in your opinion.

Nikki Lauda's accident happened 33 years ago. I can't imagine he finds it laughable to this day.

Le Mans happened 54 years ago. Does time make it laughable?

I don't even find that a minor fender-bender warrants a "lol." Especially, in our glass-bodied cars.

I hope your race series doesn't have any accidents. If one does happen, you won't get a "lol" from me.

I have spoken to Doc about this incident and someone always brings up this accident. My point was that he learned from it and has made amends with the other parties. No one wants to be in an accident and I certainly don't want people crashing in their cars in LCS.
After that crash he continued to race for many years including this past weekend at road Atlanta driving an esprit to the podium.
He has a lifetime of experience to share with us and that is the reason I invited him to the event.
If you are at the event and you feel offended by him just don't show up for his chalk talks. You probably won't be the first or last to feel that way.

I am going to try to make this my LCS first event, however it looks like there are not much in hotels available.... Should I just try to call all the hotels or bring some camping gear... JK... can't fit it in the Lotus anyway.
