Lotus challenge series

I am solicting all lotus owners who may be interested in participating in a competitve time trial/ race series. I am invisioning a west coast series and a east coast series. The culmanation with a final event to be held somewhere in the midwest Road america possibly. The format would be similar to the ferrari challenge series.Points would be earned at each event to determine the final west coat and east coast grid. I have spoken to Aaron at speedventure.com and he would be interested in hosting the west coast series only after we determine the level of interest. We are organizing dates for 2008 at the best west coast tracks with the idea of bringing in sponsors and teams. If you are interested post on this forum so we can gage the interest. You can also pm. See you at the track!! Jim

Here's another thread started by someone else.
http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44751

Do you propose this series for Cup/2-11 owners only or would a track preped Elise/Exige be qualified for this as well? WHich then begs the quesiton of Force Induction vs. Naturally aspirated.

Many people around the country have a need for this not just a want exspecialy with the 211 and the cup cars on the US, people could race the 340r and set up an all elise/exige series and broadcast it on the speed channel like it use to be before all they decided to show nothing except nascar and pinks. Go back to showing raceing from around the world like it use to.

I have a lot of knowledge on this and I just raced in the Lotus Challenge Asia and I went to the Lotus Trophy race at Sliverstone in the UK.

If I can be of any help just let me know.

In both the UK and Asia they have a few classes for different cars and they all run in one race.

Run it in NASA and I'll probably do some west coast, add in no-hassle direct parts and tires availability from LCUSA and I'm in for sure. I ran in the earlier LCUSA Lotus Challenge.

I think this is fantastic idea...as long as the price is not the $120K entry fee for the season as in the Ferrari Challenge.

Are you aware that HSR West, a top level vintage racing group. already has a Lotus Challenge class that is sponsored by Lotus USA?

It might not be exacttly what you want, but it is already in place.

Am not at my main computer now and they have changed their web site.

I think the next event is at Big Willow the first week of October.

If anyone is interested, I can get more info. I do know all Lotus models are welcome, subject to normal safety gear.

Contact Ed Swart at HSR West. http://www.HSRWESTRACE.com

Next race is October 6-7 at Willow Springs. Last race is December 1-2 at Phoenix International.

For you east coasters, call Ed anyway and see who you need to talk to with HSR in the east to get a Challenge going there. http://www.hsrrace.com/

You might need to rattle Lotus USA to get the east coast going.

Ed is a good guy. We used to run some IMSA together.

If you have problems getting info, shoot me an email.

Ed Swart does a great job, I've run one of his Lotus Challenge races at Thunderhill. One problem though is that he doesn't run at either Infineon or Laguna Seca, as far as I know. And those tracks are essential to drawing sufficient turnout to make a west coast series viable. This is especially so for Infineon as it will automatically draw probably two to three times as many entries as any other track in the west.

NASA does both tracks regularly.
