I might be able to show, but I'm keeping my car as a street car. Depends on when the Hoosiers arrive. 50/50 right now.

Sorry not familiar with "robains" . Either way have you participated with us before?
If you are running the ao48 they will do nicely but the hoosiers are better. I know i have run them the last two events. Jim

Jim,

Have you been spying on me? LOL They really need a go-cart track on the island.

As for BW, different run groups is the way to go...it will be relatively empty on the weekend. The "gumballers" will be on track from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Saturday -- should be quite entertaining.

Just got an email from Aaron, looks like its going to be a little crazy this weekend.

GUMBALL 3000 COMING TO SPEED VENTURES

Speed Ventures participants and spectators shall suffer (in a good way) the slings and arrows of other people's outrageous good fortune on August 9th at Buttonwillow Raceway Park as we play host to the first high-speed rallye (that's the British way of spelling it) checkpointe (that's the French way) of the celebrity and billionaire-studded extravaganza known as Gumball 3000. In a nutshell, Gumball 3000 provides an unprecedented opportunity for high net-worth individuals to galivant across the globe in pimped out supercars at whatever speed the local authorities will allow by day, and to party like rockstars (well, some of them ARE rockstars actually) at night. Because local authorities can be somewhat reluctant to let people drive 200mph, Gumball 3000 organizers have decided to schedule a couple pit stops at two of the world's premier racetracks (the Chinese Formula 1 circuit (a fantastic F1 track) and Buttonwillow Raceway Park (an equally fantastic and increasingly famous club racing track). After visiting Speed Ventures at Buttonwillow Raceway and eating 350 hotdogs, the caravan of 100+ participants and 250 TV/media and crew will make it's way to Los Angeles where they will go to the kind of parties Aaron Bitterman doesn't get invited to. From there they will go straight to Las Vegas just to make sure they've covered all their bases and aren't unwisely assuming Hollywood has the most to offer in the way of extravagance and debauchery. Next they'll make the obvious move of loading all 100 supercars on to air transport straight for Pyongyang, North Korea (yes, North) because they couldn't think of a better way to show all of us just how truly rich and crazy they really are.

My hope is that all of you will tell all your friends and come out to Buttonwillow on August 9th to witness Gumball 3000 in all it's glory, watch the fantastic collection of vehicles on track, and see celebrities and other high net-worth individuals eat hot dogs. Of course you're welcome to sign up to drive with us as well. Gumball 3000 activities will not affect the track time of our regularly scheduled event. Admission to the Park, as always, will be $10 for spectators. We expect Gumball drivers to begin arriving around 5pm, at which point the entrance gate will be jammed up with cars, so PLEASE ARRIVE BY 4:30pm if you are planning to come out and watch! For more information on Gumball 3000, visit Gumball 3000 | Home.

LOTUS CHALLENGE SERIES UPDATE

The Lotus Challenge Series has taken California and Nevada by storm with excellent turnouts and fantastic time trial competition. Round 5 will be held at Buttonwillow Raceway on August 9 and 10. LCS drivers will mix in with our regular drivers as part of our regular run groups and run a time trial at the end of the day on Sunday. If you own a Lotus, competing in the LCS is the best way to truly enjoy your car, improve your driving skills, explore your limits, and half badzookas of fun on track with fellow Lotus owners. For more information, visit Lotus Challenge Series - Auto Racing.

That's what we are hoping! We plan to have a nice line up of Lotus's on display. I am bringing a bucket and some soap as well as an oversize toothbrush just for you car so you can shine like you never have before!
Plus that $15/race dirty car fee is really adding up.

I'm back from my vacation/wedding with some unrelated good news. I was able to push back my east coast meeting from the 11th to the 12th, so I am a go for BW.

Also, my car is up and running again - it so happens the wiring harness came apart at WSIR, which caused my 3rd cylinder misfire. Once I get caught up this weekend I'll register...

Because we did not anticipate such a high turnout for the event. Remember we only had 15 for wsir and rather than risk having to collect surcharges we went this route. Also people liked the mixed run groups. The event looks light so far and people will be able to run in different run groups if Aaron allows it. The two events in September will be lotus only.

It looks like less than 40 cars are signed up for Saturday at BW.

Over 1/2 of them are Lotus.

I think it will be almost as if we rented out the track ourselves.

Even fewer drivers on Sunday. Looks like Aaron would be pretty deep under water or this event would be cancelled if the Series wasn't coming.

Who is blondie?

I just checked the speedventure sign ups for btw and there was a "blondie" signed up with an elise. Does anyone know who this is? I just don't want them to show up and expect to run with us. They have to meet the rule requirements. Otherwise they are welcome. Jim
