Nitto NT01

Anyone try this tire yet? Supposed to have the same tread compound as the RA1, but I have seen lightly lower prices, and the RA1 is going out of production soon (if it hasn't already). I've seen mixed reviews on the R888 so am looking at alternatives.

Uhm, Nitto NT01s are a fantastic track tire. I don't think there is a good size for the Elise/Exige, but they are indeed a superb tire; it is my favorite on cars that can use them.

I've been using Hoosiers on my Elise, but a lot of people are using the new R888's and seem to be very happy with them.

I was just researching these last night... They only have a 235 size that will fit the rear, but nothing for the front. Compound is supposed to be the same as the Toyo R1R and R888's. I'm contemplating running them on the rear with R6's on the front for AutoX and then running R1R's for my street tires...

I've got 15/16 wheels, so I was going to try the 205/50x15 and 245/50x16 option.

Cool, I was assuming 16/17's... I've run a bunch of the Nitto NT555R and R2's with no issues on my RX7's in the past... I loved them and would imagine these new tires will also be

anyone try these yet?

I just put 205/50-15 front and 245/50-16 rear on my car and it is certainly snug, especially in the rear. It seems these tires are a bit wider than the 245/45-16 RA-1 that they are replacing. Interested to hear if anyone has had rubbing issues with them while on the track.

NT01's are the same compound as Toyo RA-1s. They are a FANTASTIC tire...too bad they don't have suitable sizes for the Elise in 15/16. Most people who have used them on the Lotus have used 17's front and back.

I have a set on my current STi and they have been on the car for more than one year. Lots of tread left, mostly street and about 3 track days. One year! Grip is a little sketchy in heavy monsoon rain, but we only had 2 days like that in this past year. On track with minor water the car felt great...highly recommended if you liked RA-1s but can't find them anymore. Right now it's a toss up between this and the BFG R1's on my Elise, I love them both a lot.

Hey Gary!
I have both of them. I have the NT01R on the 240sx and the R888 on the Exige. I LOVE the R888. THe NT01R's are sticky on the 240. Either tire is good.
