I live very close to the intersection of the 5 and 210, so Thousand Oaks is about 40 miles in the opposite direction. Let's coordinate my meeting up with you as you pass through my area. Will you be driving the 101 to the 405 to the 5 to the 14?

Simon and Chris:

Best way is to meet at Denny's at Sand Canyon Exit on the 14 fwy,
6:43AM. I might try to get there early and have breakfast at Denny's there!

Scary!

What size is your helmet? Mine is XL, my head is big.

If we leave a bit early (5:30AM), we can pick up breakfast at Denny's Sand Canyon Exit

I'll PM you the directions

Mines a SMALL! When I measured my head, it was right between Small and Medium ... I went with small since some websites i looked up said go for the smaller one first. Maybe the pads will break in and it'll feel better.

My Helmet

My ZAMP has a airtube in case my breathing problem get's worse

I think you'll get use to the fit. I think it's supposed to be tight around the facial cheeks. You might ask others on LT about the helmet comfort.

Temperatures will be climbing this week and it's supposed to hit the 90's on Saturday.

What is anyone’s opinion on whether or not to take the hardtop off during this event? I can see both sides. Hard top = shade / sun protection. No hard top = air flow. What about generally speaking is it a good idea to track with the hard top on or off? ...or just take the soft top?

Saturday is approaching!!

Mark,
Simple for me: If it's hot (80F+), NO hardtop!
It depends on our drive in the morning Saturday.
The helmet gives your sun protection.
I've perfected the hard top removal technique.
It takes less than 5 minutes.

Yes, it's LESS THAN 6 DAYS UNTIL EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

That helmet looks tight. It should be snug, but comfortable. If it hurts now I am not sure it will feel better later.

I have to order another helmet. The XL one I got still feels really uncomfortable, just ordered a XXL one. Man my head's big.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend, can't wait.

BABES GALORE!

FIVE DAYS TO GO!!!!

ARE YOU READY???
I have plenty of blue painter's tape so you can cover your entire Elise and make it look like the ugliest car on the track.
It will keep the tire gunk off the rockers so when you remove it, it will look new again! Then you still can pick up thousands of babes every street corner which is the original purpose of buying a Lotus!

James/Simon: I hope the helmets fit this time.

James: Do you want to meet at my place at 5:30AM so we can get to Denny's (Sand Canyon Exit on 14) for breakfast?

--Hal

Here's to the thousands of babes!

Sure Hal, I'll meet ya at 5:30 .... man, that's really early for me though

I don't think I'll be picking up any babes in the lotus after a 90 degree day at the track

Hal, what time do you think you guys will get to Denny's for breakfast? I'll try to get there around the same time. I'm not much of a breakfast sort of guy but maybe I should keep my energy up for the track day and have a good meal ...and you can give us some pointers.

Mark,

James and I will try to get to Denny's at 6:15AM. We'll leave at approx Denny's at 6:45AM. We have to get to the track at 8AM.

The driving pointers will be better from the professional instructors at the track. I'm still learning too!

4 DAYS AWAY!

I'll try to get to that Denny's early, I guess i'll have to leave home at around 4:30 if that's the case though.

How long does it take to put on the painter's tape? I'm trying to see if I should put it on at the track or before.

If you decide to use the blue tape use the 2" wide tape. It took me less than an hour to put it on (if you want it to look aesthetcally good). I put it on the day before. If you "throw" the tape on sloppily, no babes! Sloppy tape drastically slows the car aerodynamically, and your lap times wil severely suffer! Plus the "NEATNESS INSPECTOR" will give you a warning and a lecture!

Next time, we'll get hotel rooms the night before the track session so we don't have deal with this 4:30AM insanity! Then, we'll be refreshed and ready to go to the track. Also the hotels are great for the babes.......
