Switching from BFG R1 to Hoosier R6
So, I'll be going from R1 tires to R6 tires, mostly because R6 come in 225/45R15 and BFG are 225/50. I need to have a street class setup for our time attack series, and my toyo street class are 225/45. I wanted a tire to match diameter whether R-compound or street class, so Hoosier is the only option. (V710 doesn't come in 224/45 any more).
To make a long story short, does anyone have experience with both the R1 and R6 with respect to tire pressures? Perhaps you can recommend if I need a couple lbs more or less using the R6 versus the R1? cheers

Well, the BFG R1 Elise/Exige drivers seem to be like the RA-1 drivers. Some like the pressures high and some like to run them super high. I used less pressure in my R6's than I used in my R1's. I used about 80% of the pressure. For example, if I used a cold pressure of 30 in the R1, I used 24 in the R6. See the Hoosier website for helpful tips. Be sure to read the part about Independent Suspension.

Yes, R1 is about 2 psi higher cold pressure than R6.

R6 first scrub in
So, I ran the R1's in the AM then the R6's in the PM (two back to back sessions, so luckily one first heat cycle.) I started the R6's at 26 front 28 rear psi cold. They only warmed up to 30 front 31 rear hot psi on a dry 60 degree day. Does this sound like the right ballpark from your experiences? They definetely worked, I even had the fast lap in my class!
I noticed the threshold braking doesn't feel as good/predictable as R1's, but I'm not sure why. Also, the 245/40R17 rear is a wide 245 (maybe a touch wider than the R1, which is known to be wide) and it rubs the inside front chassis on the rears, using team dynamics 17x8 (don't remember offset). the rubbing is alright and it will decrease when that shoulder gets trimmed off the tire
