Video of Exige dominating at Sebring track day

This video shows that a good driver in a Lotus can keep up or pass almost any other car--depending on the skill of the driver in the other car. Here a Porsche GT3, several Ferraris, BMW's, and other assorted Porsches are passed at Sebring. If you haven't had your car on the track yet, you need to do so. What a hoot! By the way, I have over 1000 miles at Sebring, so I know my way around, and given this experience, the Exige can toast these other cars. Get out and play!

Hmm... nice video. That gt3 turned into a little black dot in the horizon on straights though. My thought is that he got some gentlemanly point-by's, not so much that the Lotus outperformed the GT3. Definitely a good driver, but the folks in the big dollar cars were probably just out to have a good time?

That may be it. In any event, no one questions that our cars can get around those others in the corners, it's long straightaways that have been the nemesis. The new supercharger solutions seem to be solving that problem, though.

"Various other Porsches" okay. I pass plenty of them.

"GT3" No way. A good driver in a GT3 can easily embarrass any factory Exige.

The Exige looks to be a Cup car which is not street legal. It should be a good bit faster than most other cars on the track other than a GT3/ACR/C6 Z06.

The lap times will tell the whole story, if he is in the 2min 30sec to 36sec range then the passes are believable.

Having driven both the GT3 and Exige around Sebring extensively, I can tell you the Exige is way more confidence inspiring to drive, I found myself understeering allot in certain sections more in the GT3, My Exige has allot of suspension mods though, . I gotta find out who this guy is because I want to get out there and run with him for fun. He has a great line and runs fast. GT3 ,as much as I love it, is not that much quicker around a track than a supercharged Exige.

naw, not a cup car, the speakers are on the top of the dash(US Spec). Cup cars have the euro dash.

The car is a standard S240 with a de-cat pipe and an exhaust. Stock brakes, stock shocks, stock tires. The shocks were set at 7/8 as per the recommendation of several posts on this forum (and the Lotus manual), but I think next time (for my driving style) I will increase this by one front and back.

I have lots of track time at Sebring (and most other US tracks) in formula cars, so I know the racing line and am very familiar with Sebring. Several other posts are correct in their comments about the other cars--some of which may be faster than the Exige if more experienced drivers were in them--but, as can be seen in this video, I only hold back a few times (not a safe passing opportinity). However, the GT3 (which leaves us in the dust on the back stretch but is passed for good in the Esses) is not faster anywhere else on the track than the Lotus, and in many areas the Lotus is faster. The driver was an instructor for the PCA, and is very experienced. We diced several times during the day, each time we win 80% of the track (he wins the back stretch), and we win the lap.

Bottom line... these cars provide a great platform for the beginner "racer" as well as the experinced driver with lots of track time. When you drive these cars as they can be driven, you can kick almost everybody's butt. I treated this car very roughly (this was my first time in the car on the track--just got it 2 months ago), but it never let me down. Very dependable, perfectly predictable in what it is doing, and excellent at giving feedback to the driver.

great driving, but please loose the music, it really takes away from the noise we all like to hear...like down shifting and at what points you get on the throttle when exiting turns, etc.
I like to even guess what pipe the cars are running and were the cars being passed on full throttle or not.

I thought it was a cup because the headlights in the first shot in the video look blacked. In any case, very impressive driving.
