2nd gear syncro

It looks like my 2nd gear syncro is failing. Any others experiencing this failure?

JpL - Curious... what's your mileage and how hard have you been using the car (regular street/Autox/track?)? This is the first drivetrain issue I can recall..

Whats it doing wrong? Hard to shift, grinding?

Doubt it is a gearbox problem. Probably cable/linkage adjustment.

Mine will occasionally refuse to go into second when the gearbox is fully warm, but it is so intermittent that no diagnosis has been possible. Feels more like a balky cable linkage than synchro, though, as it simply refuses to go into gear, rather than grinding when attempting to put into gear

I have a problem going from neutral to first gear when I'm in motion (ie. stop and go traffic). Engaging first gear at a standstill is fine. The dealer said this is normal. Should I be concerned?

My philosophy is to downshift like I have no synchcros (blip in neutral.) This way it always slides right in and my synchros will last forever.

Everyone knows engine speed has to match wheel speed to engage the clutch otherwise you wear the clutch. But people forget transmission speed also has to match wheel speed to select a gear, otherwise you wear the synchros.

The transmission has to be in neutral when you blip, otherwise you are letting transmission speed slow down to zero and using the synchros to spin it back up.

TripleBlack, I also always blip in neutral to save the synchros. it is an ingrained habit as I've always had a manual transmission car and never had any synchro issues...
