blank temperature gauge
After a heavy afternoon rain shower, I hopped in my car and headed for home. Less than a mile into the drive, I happened to glance down at the instrument cluster and noticed that the temperature gauge was blank. Not zero, just blank. At the next stoplight, I turned the ignition off and then back on and restarted the car, and the temperature gauge came back at 165, but quickly climbed to ~190 (at about a degree per second), where it resumed a more normal warm-up rate.
Anyone seen anything like this? Any ideas as to what happened? Jim

Maybe the car had sat in the rain long enough to cool down below 165? The temp guage is blank until around 160-165, and then it appears. That it came on at 165 after restarting was a coincidence perhaps, since there is little airflow when still.
