Sounds like you need a better A/C technician They put a dye into the system to find the leak, or use a sniffer.

You got it. A fluorescent dye and then an ultraviolet light to
find the leak. Hasn't worked so far. A small leak that may be in
the middle of one of the frame rails (under the doors) would be
really hard to find. They just want to be sure they have found
the problem. Sounds like a good Tech to me!

I don't believe there are any connections within the sills, all connections are accessible.

Funny thread to revive as I'm actually having issues with Lotus right now. My A/C never blew cold air. From day one. I complained and was told . I am a customer that paid over sticker and then I even ended up working for a Lotus dealer and I still complained and I still heard . Unfortunately nobody documented this at the dealer.

I only found out a couple weeks ago that there was a bulletin out with a fix and that it can blow cold air. I just sold a 2005 Elise that Lotus fixed for the guy after his warranty expired. I called my contacts at Lotus and was told they no longer do good will due to the economy. I know this is not correct as a couple months ago they replaced some expensive parts for a co-worker of mine at Telsa with an Elise, who was way out of warranty by mileage and w/o an extended warranty. I have the extended warranty which I paid a couple grand for, but I still have to pay a deductible. I'm pretty upset that given my relationships with Lotus over the years that they won't take care of something that supposedly only costs $400. It's not like I need the A/C much, being that I live in SF, but for me it's really the principle that it should have worked, but it never have, and now they are denying me. I also spoke with some Lotus mechanics, and apparently there may be a number of possible reasons why it doesn't work and until someone looks at it, it is unknown. Some of them offered to fix it for free, but unfortunately are out of reasonable driving distance. Considering how many customers I sold cars for Lotus I am just shocked that they won't do this one little thing for me. It really changes my impression of the brand and customer service. I really don't know what to do at this point. I feel helpless. I don't know if I should start a new thread. If a mod thinks so, please feel free to do so.

I was not aware of any TSB for an A/C fix, and frankly, I don't know what could possibly work. Take a look at this, it dramatically improves performance IMPROVED A/C & HEATING SYSTEM
Cheers,
