Does anybody know a dealer that has this in stock? I've tried a few, but nobody has it... It looks like it will only be about a week to get, but I'd like to get on this sometime this week as I have some time available that I wasn't expecting.

My fans just died a couple days ago. Fuse is good, and I get at least 12V at the fuse. I hope that I don't have to wait a week when I visit the dealer

Oh joy, this sounds exactly like my problem except my fan speed is the same on setting 1,2, or 3. Never changes (always low speed). AND, my AC is now always ON. Wooohoo. I would think that it would be relatively easy to come up with a voltage regulator to the fans by a simple trip to one's local electronics store.
How long of a job is it to remove the front clam ? Since the whole drilling thing is now a standard dealer fix for any Lotus it seems (what are they trying to tell me it never rained in England) to me that this will pretty much negate any aero benefits from the undertray -- in fact, I'd dare suggest that these holes will now become great places to store rocks, rubber, and anything else. Just how big are these drain holes?

We'll, I'm not please I'm having to work on the car - but I am pleased with the simplicity of the car. I don't have a manual or instructions, but I decided to take the clamshell off to get going on this project since my part is on the way already.
It took me 1 hour and 34 minuets to take the clamshell off without help which included eating a plate of spaghetti and a salad in the middle. Probably would have been a bit easier with a helper. |

I got the exact same problem. Air in 1 and 2, but not 3. I'm taking my car in to Scottsdale Lotus tomorrow. How long did they say before the part comes in? I hope they ordered some spares. ![]()

Hmmm...interesting, I was quoted 6 hours for replacing brake lines with SS lines. AND, quoted 8 hours for removing the clam shell and for the SS lines....
So you say < 2 hours with a salad and pasta?? Hmmmm.... interesting!

![]() My parts came in and I'm just getting ready to begin the repair. It looks like I'm going to have to remove a few more parts than I originally though... too bad as I wanted to drive tomorrow! |

Well, that didn't take long. I'm done for the evening lol. I'm not sure how to "recover the refrigerant"... I guess I need a tool I don't have. Also the service notes say to cap all of the pipes and ports so no moisture or dirt ingress... What can I cap these with?
Obviously I'm not a car mechanic! I miss working on bikes at the moment... no HVAC. |

I had this exact same problem for most of this summer. Then, I washed my car the other day and now my fans work again. I had planned to take my car in eventually for the new pack. I'm sure it'll happen again though.

Just got my AC fixed. New resister pak. Drilled holes per service bulletin. All under warranty.
Could be my imagination, but the fan seems one notch faster now on every speed. Or, it could be because I miss my AC the last few days that any mediocre AC feels fast. ![]()

Yeah, my AC failed too, and then it came back for about three weeks. When they replaced the resister pak, I couldn't believe how rusted the contacts were from the water damage. It was amazing that the fans worked at all.

Hopefully you can get it done yourself with no problems. Take some pics and post them up as you do it so future members can have an idea of what to do.

I've got the receiver-drier out, but it looks like the expansion valve will be a little trickier. The allen bolt on top is quite rusted.
Another interesting thing to note is that my car did have the holes drilled... I didn't see them at first, but I noticed them today. |

Here are the holes that were drilled by my dealer.
Sorry about the fuzzy pics. I took about 20 and all of them came out this way. Maybe because of the angle.
