Cylinder Misfire/Oil Soaked Coilpack
So I started my trip from SD to TX yesterday & everything was going great until I took my buddy for a drive in KS. Engine started puttering/spitting (whatever you want to call it) at low RPMs & whenever I tried to get on the cams.
Thought it was bad gas so I dumped in a bottle of HEET & octane booster & let it sit over night. Started her up this morning & she worked great at first & then started getting bogged down/losing power as the engine temperature went up. Check engine light read cylinder 1 misfire. Turns out the coilpack was soaked in oil. The spark plug wasn't loose. So we blew out the oil with an air compressor, cleaned the coilpack & spark plug & put it back together. 7 hours later & I'm in Dallas & the car is still running great. Question: It's gotta be the valve cover gasket right? I figure it's allowing oil to slowly leak in & has probably been doing so for a while. I plan on replacing it this Friday when I get to Corpus Christi. Last edited by txdude : 10-19-2009 at 12:16 AM. |
