Yep, you missed something. The manuals are in the emission download area. The law that requires that they make the manuals available is emission related - so that independent mechanics have access to what it takes to repair cars for emission purposes.

Go to the emission section and start downloading...

I downloaded last week. Tried to do it on a Mac with Firefox and for some reason, was not having success. Contacted Lotus US through their main site. They both called and emailed almost immediately. Tried again in Safari and got if fine. They were super helpful regarding password info and extending my time to download.

FYI for anyone with a similar Mac problem. When I tried to log in after paying, it was showing a download popup after I installed "Download them all". It would not let the screen behind load so I could insert my password. When I used Safari, it didn't have the popup, my password worked, but I had to download each file individually. Still, it was probably only fifteen minutes or so. No big deal.

Looks like about 30% of the actual service manual. Could be better for $25, but too late now.

It is all of the Lotus portion of the Service Manual - everything except for the engine and transmission internals. Those two sections (manuals) are from Toyota.

There is similar services available from Toyota to download the Toyota engine and transmission manuals - there are also several places on the 'net to download bootleg copies of the manuals (hint: they are Celica manuals).

As for being better for $25, the last set of manual I had to buy was a little over $500 for my Ford truck manuals. The Lotus manuals for $25 is a huge bargain.

I always got PDFs for the Toyotas I owned - either eBay bootlegs for $15 or from the Toyota Tech site at $10/day. I think Toyota recently changed the software on their tech site, so instead of just hosting a bunch of PDFs they have a little ActiveX control that displays them for you, thus preventing any reasonable way of mass downloading. Pity.

There was a "Genuine Elise Service Manual 2005+ on CD" listed on eBay all this week - ended at $56, but after closer examination of the pictures provided with the auction it looks like the engine part is for the Rover powerplant. Somebody got hosed.

$500 for a service manual book sounds about right, though.

HELP! New Service Manual Urgently...

HELP! Need Service Manual Urgently...

Hi there,

I've just bought a '05 Federal Elise that needs some re commissioning after 2 years lack of use. My first job is to replace the leaking radiator and get the A/C working... not so easy as I'm based in Dubai UAE, where there is no Lotus Dealer in the country

I know you can down load the service manual from Lotus' web site, however as it's my first use of PayPal I'm waiting for my 4 digit confirmation number...this could take a month before it's confirmed on my credit car statement

As soon as it comes I'll download my own copy (honest), but meantime would anyone be willing to send me a copy of the manual so I can get started????

Cheers

Actual repair manual needed... PLEASE

I need to get a hold of an actual repair manual for a 2005 Elise. OR just the section for the HVAC. I need to replace my blower motor and resistor pack for the A/C. The car is out of warranty so I'm sure it will cost a fortune at the dealer. I already have the front clam off but I an a little unsure what needs to be removed in order to get to the blower motor. The manual that I downloaded for $25.00 is completely worthless, it doesn't help one bit.

The manual that you downloaded is the manual - as far as I know, it's the only manual.

Having the Parts Manual helps with things as you can see the "exploded" views of the various parts in the car.

grrr, this got way too complicated.

I usually use explorer and signed up for the downloads on explorer and no problems. I sign in and everything looks great. I realize that the download them all feature mentioned earlier was for firefox.

So, I download Firefox and add the DownThemAll! addon. But I can't open www.lotustechinfo.com from FireFox! I can open it in explorer. When using FireFox is says File Not Found.

Does the LCU site offer the parts manual as well? I need it for a trashed front that is missing a lot of small parts/fasteners that I'd like to identify. If the LCU site doesn't have it are there any links to copies? I got a very attenuated version, about 40 pages, from a UK site which was, I believe, pre-federal.

drjose or anyone else that happened to purchase this:

Does this site's 450 page manual (Lotus Elise Workshop Service & Repair Manuals) contain the Engine and Transmission sections that we've been having to piecemeal from other places? I suspect it does include it, but I'd like to be sure before purchasing.

thx.

That is not the Federal Elise manual and as such I would expect that if the engine manual was included it would not be for the 2ZZ.
