Found a cheap Wiper Replacement

I'm about 2 weeks into Elise ownership, and found that my new Elise came with a pretty bad factory wiper. I did some searching and found this to be common but 26" replacements weren't real easy to find---for cheap (found several expensive units on the net, but I hate paying big $$ for something with such a short life).

I hit the same road block at Autozone and similar, BUT I found 2 selections for the full replacement at Walmart of all places
They are just standard 26" replacements. They have the Rain-X version which works great, especially for 7 bucks

Thought I would throw it out there...

Happy New Year!

Seems to vary. The one that came on my car (Dec 2004) was terrible from day one. Recently replaced the entire blade assembly with a new factory one and it works great.

Thank you, Phil, for sharing this information. Tips such as these are one of the more valuable aspects of an Owners' Forum.

Anybody can go to their dealer and have the blade replaced...

That's funny, I just got mine at walmart three days ago. It was like eight bucks. Two diff types too. It looks like, due to the curve in the windsheild, we will have to replace wipers often.

Soulmn-
Great minds must think alike...I have to assume that most Elise owners are doing OK financially (to say the least), but I also assume that we got that way in-part by making wise decisions on all the little stuff....like wiper blades...'er that's what I tell the wife when she wants to buy new clothes every friggin weekend

Been using the Michelin brand wipers on my car for some time, they look nice too. Walmart had them.

I picked up both the Rain X and the Michelin. However, through careful analysis I found that the Rain X weighed a bit less and returned the Michelin

Anyone have the part numbers for these replacements?
Michelin
Trico
RainX
Bosch

Fill-in if you've got the number.

Thanks,
Kiyoshi

P.S. I'll add the part #s to the GGLC parts cross reference listing

I've been using the Walmart sourced Michelin rubber insert (had to buy the entire assembly but just used the rubber insert) on the stock assembly with good results.

For the non-Wallys, this is good super-silicone refill from PIAA (10 bucks):

I've been curious about those Silicone PIAA wiper blades. Have you actually tried it? Any good or just hype? My wiper is so/so, now that I have finally got the rubber insert to stay in it. It was contantly working it's way out.

I'm still a huge fan of rain X window treatment. With it, not much use of the wipers required. It somehow entertains my simple mind too.

I have been happy with both the Silicon and Graphite wiper blades from PIAA. www.PepBoys.com sells them with free shipping. The Silicone blades supposedly coat your windshield, but I'm not convinced this is a good thing.

Regarding hype and it actually 'coating' the windshield...dunno, maybe. All I know is I'm using one now, and it works very well - a vast improvement over the OEM. I'm a fan of RainX as well...

I hefted both the RainX and the Michelin - RainX definitely felt lighter to me, so I took that... About $8 and change at Wally World.

I have the 26" PIAA blades on my wife's minivan. They work well, and don't chatter or squeal (another important aspect of a good wiper blade).

Thanks for the information guys. I'm gonna try and replace my wiper blade this weekend. The winter rains have started and my factory wiper is just awful. It sweeps most of the windshield except for the space directly infront of the driver. Seems to not even contact the windshield for a 6 inch by 10 inch area. Anyway, I'll try and find the blades you are talking about at a WalMart this weekend.
