Heads up for 2-Eleven owners...WARNING

I was at my track garage this morning and saw one of our members cars, a 2-Eleven. The rear clam had started to melt, the left rear fender liner was completely melted, and the rear toe link inner bushing had melted.

The reason for all of this was the flex pipe portion of the exhaust had sheared in two and was blowing direct exhaust to the left. It got so hot that the rear clam had melted itself to the rear diffuser and the diffuser had a hole in it from the heat.

You guys might want to get under there and take a look. That car was close to having a major fire or at least a major meltdown! No pun intended.

I didn't have a camera handy, but take my word for it, it was a mess. If that toe link would have broken while on track it would be a real mess, let alone a car fire.

The flex pipe...

This isn't anything unusual. Anyone should be able to tell if they have an exhaust leak.

Thanks for the heads up. Will keep an eye out for trouble in that area.

This flex pipe should be checked after every session to be safe. I looks like it's a gradual problem and not spontaneous event, so it can be caught early.
