HELP Coolant temp

I am at my parents and my temp reading is super high at ike 230+. It ran fine yesterday. Also, there is absolutely no heat coming from the vents just cold air. Any ideas?

Have you checked your coolant level?

No, it was raining. I plan to do that when it stops first and lunch had started already

Can I 'unstick' it somehow easily? I'm sneaking from the fam to do this otherwise I'd take time and look this stuff up myself.

First things first.

1. Check the coolant reservoir
2. Bleed the coolant system (several threads about this)
3. Worry about the thermostat

The resevoir is low for sure. I don't have my manual on me but what type of fluid does it take?

The thermostat could be stuck but if the tank was dry then the system likely ingested air at some point and will need bleeding (the thermostat will not open in the presents of air). There is a bleed point on the tank itself and two on the coolant hoses, one at the rear of the engine (easy) and one at the radiator on the passenger side (not so easy) I would start looking for leaks as well.

There is a definite leak now somewhere up front on the passenger side. The tank has depleted several times afer just being on for a couple minutes.

This is going to require some time, and some tools. And probably some help.

Tool of choice is a tow truck and warranty now

Get a flatbed tow truck for the ride to your lotus mechanic.

Sounds like you have a very common leak near the radiator, probably the hose leading in or out - the hose clamp likes to loosen in that area.

Have it looked at, it's a warranty fix.

Not yours, too... my clutch interlock is buggered. I didn't think we pushed the cars that much on Saturday! We even compared the temp and both cars were idling at 205.

I know. It happened first thing the next day as I was heading to my parents house. I didn't push the car at all. And like mentioned above, it sounds like a warranty fix so I'm just goin to flat bed it over to Gentry Lane. Good that it happened before my warranty expired but ****ty since i am leaving to Alberta tomorrow
