Help: Motor Oil Question

I know from the manual that 5w-40 fully synthetic is required. After scouring all the auto stores in this small SD town, none of the suggested brands are available. On a good note, I was able to get the K&N HP oil filter.

AutoZone was the only place carrying the 5W-40 oil & there was only 1 option. Mobile 1 5W-40 Fully Synthetic. What gets me is that it says "For Hard-Working Diesel Trucks" & just below the 5W-40 it says "Recommended for 15W-40 application."

I know, sounds dumb but I'd rather ask a stupid question now than post a future message about how I destroyed my new baby.

That's what you want.

5-40W Diesel has extra additives that are good for your engine even if it is not a diesel

That Mobil1 5W-40 is what our local dealer uses.

And it is what I use. I order it in batches online (usually 15-18 quarts per order). However, my local Kragen and AutoZone auto parts stores recently started carrying it.

And my local Walmart just stopped . BOOOOO Wallyworld. (5Q was $18 cheaper than at Advance Auto).

My local distributor for the Havoline 5W-40 still has cases in stock FWIW.

It's OK to use because it's the Official Oil of NASCAR!
