Intermittent Air Bag Light?

Happy Labor Day All -

My (relatively) recently acquired '05 Elise has started throwing it's Air Bag Light at me. It happened first about a month ago - mid drive, and was cleared up when I stopped, shut down the car, and restarted after a few moments. Yesterday and today however it's come on almost first thing and is staying on. Is this common? Is there a quick fix I should/can look for? Should I panic??

This car has a storied past, but was put back together pretty solidly. I've had no other electrical gremlins - other than a driver's side window that is balking about going down now.

I appreciate any words of wisdom on these matters.

Cheers!

if that light is staying on constantly it probably will have to be reset by the dealer. i was driving n i hit a small bump in the road n my airbag tell tail light came on 3 months ago n still hasnt gone off. there's also something to do with the seat belt there's a sensor between the seat and the chassis. theres more information to find that particular sensor search for air bag tell tale on the forum but it's not a big deal tho i hope it's only that the sensor is unplugged but best of luck to you and i hope you figure out this issue n keep us all posted.

The warning light indicates a fault in the system and the Sensing & Diagnostic Module (SDM) needs to be interrogated using a Lotus scan tool.

Hah. Today is the first day in a year that I got my airbag light to go out. Maybe if yours is related to the shoulder belt this info will at least show you what the mechanism looks like. It is behind the firewall liner.

How to get rid of airbag MIL now that you have harness
