Limp mode/OBD codes P2103,P2104,P0638
Have an '06 Elise with 1000mi that went into limp mode under normal driving condtions. Check engine light came on, turned the car off and restarted it and is driving fine. Check eng light remained on and OBD scanner detected 3 codes:
P0638 (generic for "throttle actuator control range/performance) P2103 and P2104...which must be manufacturer specific... My question is whether anyone knows what these 2 codes refer to...can't find these codes anywhere...including the service manual and other threads...thanks. |

Those must be new codes for the '06 model, because they are not in the Service Manual for the '05. Even the P0638 code was listed (although that one isn't manufacturer specific and sounds like it has to do with the drive by wire throttle). Below are the manufacturer specific codes listed in the '05 Service Manual:

It was supposed to be that codes that started with P0 were generic codes, and P anything other than 0 was manufacturer specific. But from the tables at that site (http://www.myscantool.com/dtc/), it appears that things have changed a bit. It looks like they defined additional generic codes, and now only codes that start with P1 are manufacturere specific - P2, P3, etc. seem to have generic definitions. At least the ones listed in the '05 Service Manual do map with the P2 codes listed in the table. Good to know that... Thanks!

Rachel's Elise ('06) threw a P2108 tonight - "Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Performance." Interesting, especially in light of Steve W.'s evaluation of her car on the track. The code description seems to speak for itself, but can anyone go a bit more in depth?
Thanks

Rachel's car felt very sluggish on the 25th as well -- so the issue has been there for well over a week. I thought it was just that new car/tight engine thing, since it took my '05 Elise at least 10K miles to come into it's own. But now it sounds like her car may be having a TBW problem. Have it corrected before the Player's Run. |
