Looks like the dealer's jack slipped!
Just noticed this weekend... (car is 2 weeks old)... In the floorboard just to the left of the driver's seat, there is a crease that bends upwards (towards the inside of the cockpit). So, I took a look underneath the car, and sure enough, just inboard of the marked jacking point, there is a mark and dent. I would speculate this happened at the dealer during prep before delivery. It's fairly minor, and I doubt there's anything that can be done. But, I have to admit it bugs me a bit.

Not yet. But, it will be added to the "list" of things (most of which they probably can't do anything about).

Here are pics of the damage:
First one is inside the car looking down. The 2nd photo is the same view, close up. 3rd and 4th photos show it from underneath the car. It actually looks like they used a lift / jack in the wrong position and without any kind of pad. The marks look like an imprint from a metal pad. It sucks, but I'm assuming there's nothing that can be done about it, right?

That really sucks - I've worried about the same thing jacking (the car) myself.
But would right be anything less than a new chassis - or at least a new section if that's possible?

I can't imagine how they'd fix it without replacing the chassis or a section of it. And, would it be worth the trouble? I suspect it's more of a cosmetic problem than a structural one.
It would be one thing if I had done it. It's quite another when THEY did it. If my car's gonna get scratched up, it should be by ME! Mike

Mike, I feel for you as well.
This kind of crap should not be happening. C'mon... this is a $50,000 exotic car! I'm sure the dealer did it while prepping the car. I'd tell both Lotus USA and Lotus PLC about this. It would be interesting to see what might happen.

Be careful with stuff like this. Unless it's structural, you'll find that the repair will just create more problems. I've often been in this type of situation, and, in the end, I've often regretted pursuing it. Usually, things just go from bad to worse, when people who don't know what they're doing (and probably don't give a dman) try to "make it right".

OUCH!
that sucks BIG time! It's pretty obvious they used the hydraulic lift and had the arm extended too far - and without a rubber pad! You would think the guys in the shop would know to PUT THE PAD RIGHT THERE ON THE BIG BLUE STICKER THAT HAS A PICTURE OF A JACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im not trying to fuel a fire here, but I would be PISSED! A brand new 50K car and they go and FU_K it up before you even take delivery. sheesh, ok, I got it off my chest... I feel for ya. I doubt they could do anything about it and I'm sure it's only cosmetic. |

It looks fairly minor, but I would probably react the same way: I don't need to bring the car to the dealer to get it messed up! I'm perfectly capable of doing that myself, I don't need to pay a professional for it.
I would mention it to the dealer in a friendly and cooperative way. There might not be much they can do about it. But who knows, maybe they'll offer some form of compensation for the damage (parts, service).

A ForcedFed turbo kit would be adequate compensation, I think! Mike

I agree, some kind of compensation would be cool. I know I'd do it if it were my customer. Other than that, don't sweat it, it's not a big deal and you'll probably forget all about it after a while, with all the smiles driving this car brings.

I can't believe your dealer didn't tell you about it if it was delivered to you in that condition. That is bullsh*t. Good luck with fixing it!
